Who I AmI am a 28 year old Aquarius w/Cancer Moon & Cancer Rising. I am a mother of four and a widow, although my late husband and I had been separated for a year and a half or so when he died. I am happily committed to a long term relationship with a handsome honey I met playing World of Warcraft around two years ago. I am your typical artsy type. A little unorganized at times, a neurotic perfectionist, I follow my heart at the woe of my mind heh. I live in the South Carolina Upstate area of the good ol' US of A. I guess I am a conservative libertarian, although my boyfriend swears I'm a liberal - pfft! Is Bill Maher a liberal? I tend to agree with a lot of his opinions, so if he is then I suppose I am - I dont know. What I LikeAbove all else, I love my family. My children, my man, my siblings, my parents and my dogs. They are the light of this world for me and I don't even want to imagine what life would be without them. That said, family get-togethers are not my favorite thing in the world heh. I love chocolate chip cookies. If I don't abandon my love for them soon I am going to end up dying from diabetes like my paternal grandmother though - so I guess it's a love-hate relationship really lol. I like the smell of jasmine, gardenias, amber, limes, coconuts, lemons, roses, melons, oregano, honeysuckle and clean clothes heh. I love colors and colorful things. I like my clothes color coordinated but everything else should just be an explosion of colors - I really just love all the beautiful colors in the world. My favorite colors if I had to pick would be purples, pinks, blues, greens and yellows and of course white - though it's not really a color heh. I also love all things fantasy, sci-fi, mysterious, creepy or scary. Faeries, unicorns, dragons, trolls, elves, lands from once upon a time and realms in different dimensions. I love escaping into a land of mystery and magic whether in a good book, a movie, a song or a beautiful painting. I love the concept of fortune telling gypsies, witches, mystics, wizards and the like. For that matter, I love World of Warcraft heh. Most of the time anyway. I would like it better probably if I could play it offline and by myself ha, I love all the beautiful zones, and my cute toons, and my lovely mounts and gear. I also like killing the bad guys and pillaging their loots hehe. I also liked a few other fantasy video games including Vampire the Masquerade, American McGee's Alice, Final Fantasy VII, anything Super Mario Bros or Zelda. I also enjoy puzzle games, word games, board games such as Monopoly and Yahtzee, as well as card games like Spades, Rummy and Poker. I live for music. All day long. Any chance I get. It's like an addiction. I can't imagine doing even a quarter of the things that most people do soundlessly everyday without music. I like at least -something- in every genre. Some of my favorite artists include The White Stripes, Type O Negative, Tori Amos, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Loreena McKennit, Enya, Guns N Roses, H.I.M., N.I.N., Björk, Kylie Minogue, Lil Wayne (I know - guilty pleasure!!!), PJ Harvey, Britney Spears (since Slave 4 U), Gretchen Wilson, Dolly Parton, Bob Marley, Lauryn Hill, Otis Redding, Etta James, Billie Holiday, Duran Duran, Nirvana, ~ so many more!! I won't bore you with any longer of a list, but there are so many artists that I love. It really just varies by mood. One day I'll be feeling like Basshunter and Bodyrox, the next it will be all about Cat Stevens and Carole King. No matter what I am doing, if I am able, there will be music accompanying it. I LOVE reading. Fantasy novels are my favorite of course. But I also like re-reading the classics and also reading various informative or self-help books. I love Anne Rice's vampire and witch series and I've even read her erotic lit and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. I also love Stephen King most of the time. Laurell K Hamilton is great, as are the Avalon books by Marion Zimmer Bradley. My two favorite books of all time are Imajica by Clive Barker and Spring Moon by Bette Bao Lord (which by the way I have yet to meet anyone else who has read). Imajica is the book that put a small slice in the brainwashed screen of religion society had built in my mind. By the Goddesses, God could be a woman! I've since steered from even that, but I will always treasure it as a catalyst for my freedom from religious oppression. Along with reading, I also like to write. With my hands I mean. I like to journal, write letters I never send, write angry or mournful poetry. Sometimes I even write a short story though I seldom think much of those after I re-read them a couple times. Really I guess I am a very handsy kind of person. I love to draw, I'm teaching myself to paint, I love collaging, art-deco, I like sewing, beading, friendship bracelets, styling hair, doing make up, cooking. I love handi-crafts I guess. I also know how to play guitar and enjoy doing that when the time and equipment is available. I also like making webpages. Hand-coding has a kind of hypnotic effect. I think it triggers a specific part of the brain or something, "writing in another language". I would LOVE to learn to speak another language fluently, but I don't see how I would have the opportunity to practice very much in this area. I enjoy watching movies with the kids or my boyfriend. It feels great to curl up on the couch or in bed with a warm body snuggled close to you and just get lost together in a good movie. I like all kinds of movies. Some of my favorites include Gone With the Wind, Amelie, and The Labyrinth, but there are so many, the list would be just as long as my favorite artists one heh. Last but not least, of the minimal amount of television I actually watch there are a few channels and shows I like to catch. I love Real Time with Bill Maher, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Colbert Report, The Secret Lives of Women, Ghost Whisperer (though at times it gets a bit too dramatic for me hehe). I also like Ghost Hunters, and I watch reruns of Charmed, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena: Warrior Princess whenever I can catch them. Aside from that I love catching a good documentary on TLC, Discovery, National Geographic or History channels. I also like those "spooky place" shows you sometimes catch on Travel Channel and Sci-Fi. What I Don't LikeI don't like asparagus, or pork rinds (though they make great low carb breading ^_^ ). I don't like being obese, so I am working on that. I don't like lemon meringue pie - but that's cool since I'm trying to kick my carb addiction anyway. I don't like daytime soap operas (though at one time I was a big fan of Days of Our Lives and One Life to Live). I don't like being in crowded places, or in small closed in places. I don't like shopping by myself. I don't like raw tomatoes. I don't like watching sports usually, they generally put me to sleep - although watching a sporting event in person is very exciting for me provided the area is not overly crowded. I don't like days that are so hot it's sticky. I don't like stupid people - I mean truly stupid people. Those people who are ignorant and think that's the best way to be. I don't like narrow minded people. I hate cookie cutter everything - soooo boring!!!!! I don't like gratuitous sex scenes in movies, or the way some "family" companies promote stereotypes and sexuality to young children. I have watched make out scenes on shows like "Drake and Josh" that made me uncomfortable - and I am a mother of four!!!! And this stuff is being advertised to my 8 - 10 year old kids - shame on companies like Nickelodeon and Disney. They just continue pumping out the Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan's of the world. (I like both these girls, but I feel awful for the mental messes they both have.) I have studied pretty much every religion that ever existed in the history of humanity and have come to the conclusion that religion once had it's place in our evolution but that we have come to a place where it no longer encourages our growth and progression but instead prevents it. We know right from wrong, we don't need texts written by primitive peoples to guide us in the right direction. Time and time again religion has created divides, between peoples and between humanity and it's environment. So I don't like religion. I don't like "twangy" sad country music. I don't mind the pop sounding stuff, but the depressing songs do exactly that - and they are monotonous. It's a shame really - the music itself is lovely, if those crooners would just shut up it would be enjoyable. Oh well! I also don't like what I guess is called "thrash metal" or something along those lines. If it has no rhythym, melody, harmony, it's noise - not music. If I want to be screamed at I will at least get the pleasure of pissing someone off first =p Same goes for "gangsta rap" *yawns* Yeah life sucks, so you have every right to go make it worse for everyone around you AND THEN promote that sorry lifestyle to all those lonely kids in desperate need of guidance because their mother's are crackheads. Nevermind that YOU aren't even living in the ghetto you rap about anymore!! I also don't like a lot of the standard stuff that most people don't like, like child molesters and corporate greed. I just thought I would expand on the dislikes that maybe make me a little unique or different. |
