Wishing for Wings

I wish I had wings so I could fly away from here
No more sorrow, no more heartache, no more tears
If I had wings I would fly far out into space,
Where no one could see me, the melancholy on my face
The scars on my heart would melt away as I soared past the sun
I would set foot on the moon and just run
I would dance through a star and rest on a rainbow
I would be myself, someone - no one could ever know
I would nibble on exotic fruits swimming in the Meditterenean Sea
No one could see, it would only be me
I would float across the ocean, my wings a soft canoe
I would lie there forever, watching the sky change from grey to blue
from blue to pink, from pink to violet, and then to blackest night
And there would I look at myself with love in the dazzling moonlight
And I could forget all my troubles, and sing the songs of my childhood
Oh if I could! If I only could!!
Happiness and peace would truly be mine!
Life would be grand, I would be divine!
For now I will just wish, within the depths of my heart,
That someday maybe soon I will be able to depart
